Description:

A proprietary clay blend fortified with a mineral complex, formulated for breeding most types of terrestrial springtails. Springtail Crimson creates our famous deep dish cultures — a thicker, denser layer than our shallow dish counterpart (Springtail Chocolate) — giving your springtails more room to thrive.

What's included: 5-count dry clay mix (approx. 1.5–1.6 lbs)

Directions:

1. Add 1 cup of water to the bag of clay, then add 1/8–1/4 cup more as needed
2. Seal the zipper and agitate thoroughly — should reach a thick consistency
3. Cut the bag along the corner to make a makeshift piping bag
4. Evenly distribute clay into each of your 5 cups, spreading with a gloved hand or tool (wooden shim, spoon)
5. If media is too wet, wait a few hours and try again — it should spread easily and stay in place
6. Seed the culture by adding adult springtails from another culture (no eggs in the clay)

Maintenance:

• Keep cultures moist by spraying lightly until clay glistens (about once every 1–2 weeks based on thickness)
• Feed springtails a small pinch of food each week

Best for: dart frog keepers, tarantula keepers, and anyone running bioactive vivariums that need a steady cleanup crew supply.
