Gargoyle Gecko Care
General Facts
A medium sized aboreal gecko from the temperate rain forests of New Caledonia, Gargoyle Geckos are very easy to care for and a joy to keep! Gargoyle geckos are one of the more predatory geckos from New Caledonia and will actively hunt insects and small reptiles in the wild!
Diet
We feed our gargoyle geckos a complete diet powder (CGD) that is mixed with water (like a smoothie) and live crickets that are dusted with calcium and mineral supplements. We alternate between insects and CGD every feeding and mix Repashy and Pangea gecko food, alternating flavors each feeding as well!
Cage Setup
For adult gargoyle geckos we recommend 18"x18"x24" size exo terra or PVC cage with ample venilation. These are aboreal geckos so fill up the space with cork bark so they have plenty to climb on. We highly recommend light cycles, live plants and full bioactive to make your pet thrive, but this is not required.
Lighting & Conditions
Remember that gargoyle geckos are cooler climate geckos and do well in temeratures 68°F to 75° for ambient. We recommend not including heat elements or heat bulbs. 6% UVB lighting is a great way to provide a gentle heat gradient for thermoregulation. For water we recommend daily misting and water dishes!
