O. violaceopes is among the most purple tarantulas in the hobby! This species is a true arboreal, spending much of its time in tree tubes in the day, and being more active at night. 

This species also gets very big (allegedly up to 9") and as adults the females will have SOLID purple legs, with purple stripes on the abdomen. 

These guys are also ravenous eaters and in the wild, they are surely one of the top predators of the trees.

Diet & Water

Feed your invertebrates crickets, roaches, or mealworms—we primarily use crickets and recommend feeding weekly. Provide a textured, shallow water dish as a drinking source, ensuring it's just water (no sugar, sponges, or additives).

Keep invertebrates at room temperature (65°F-75°F) and maintain humidity using soil. The soil should be damp but not saturated, resembling the texture and color of coffee grounds.
