Neoholothele incei (Trinidad Olive Tarantula)
The Trinidad Olive is a small, fast dwarf species that packs a lot of personality into a compact frame. Slings are dark bodied with light pinkish legs and a green abdomen, and as they mature they develop a wonderful metallic olive color with a black starburst on the carapace (head) and a black chevron pattern down the abdomen. Grab this new world tarantula for sale if you want an active, heavy webbing dwarf with genuine character.
Why do hobbyists keep Neoholothele incei?
- Stunning Coloration: A metallic olive body with a black starburst on the carapace and chevron patterning down the abdomen, a striking look for such a small species.
- Heavy Webber: A prolific webber that quickly covers its enclosure in dense silk, giving it a genuinely active, lived-in look.
- Communal Potential: One of the very few tarantula species that some keepers successfully house in small groups, a rare trait in the hobby.
How should Neoholothele incei be kept?
- Adult Size: Reaches about 2.5 inches at full leg span, a true dwarf species.
- Enclosure: Choose an enclosure at least twice the leg span in width, depth, and height, with a hide included for security.
- Temperature: Keep between 65 to 75 degrees F.
- Humidity: This species does best on the drier side with good ventilation, unlike many of its tropical relatives.
- Water: A shallow textured water dish works well, something they can grip when climbing out.
- Diet: Crickets, roaches, or mealworms sized to about a quarter of the leg span, matching the width of the carapace (head). Feed at least once a week.
- Temperament: Fast and alert, quick to retreat into its webbing when startled rather than stand its ground.
Are there any additional notes or considerations?
- Sling Coloration: Slings start out dark bodied with pinkish legs and a green abdomen before developing the signature olive and black adult look.
- Captive Bred: All Tarantulas are 100% captive bred.
