The infamous salmon pink bird eater has been super popular among tarantula hobbyist for years due to its beautful coloration and very large adult size. Reaching 10"+ this is one of the few species that rivals the Theraphosa (Goliath Bird Eater) genus in size. The female we have for sale is comfortably 6" and has room to grow. If you want a species that is big, bulky colorful and will eat anything (yes like mice and lizards) then this is a great opportunity. 

Note: We advise if you choose to do live vertebrate feedings that you watch your pet to make sure that the food is tackled and taken down successfully and safely before leaving unattended. We do not recommend you leaving your pet unattended while feeding vertebrates.

How big does a Lasiodora parahybana get?

Adults reach roughly 8–11 inches in leg span, making them one of the largest tarantula species in the world (fourth-largest overall, behind the three Theraphosa species). Males tend to have the longer, more slender legs, while females are bulkier-bodied and typically weigh over 100g at maturity.

What is the lifespan of a Lasiodora parahybana?

Females live 15–20 years. Males are much shorter-lived, typically 4–5 years after reaching maturity.

How fast do Lasiodora parahybana grow?

They can reach adult size in 3–4 years under good conditions. They’re among the quickest-growing tarantulas. 

What size tank does a Lasiodora parahybana need?

Adults need at least a 20-gallon enclosure. Floor space matters more than height since they're terrestrial, so a 24"×18" footprint is a solid baseline. Shop available tarantula enclosures.

Is Lasiodora parahybana venomous?

Yes, but mildly. The venom isn't medically significant for healthy adults and is comparable to a bee sting.

Are salmon pink tarantulas aggressive?

Defensive is more accurate. They're more likely to flick urticating hairs than bite. Individual temperament varies.

Is Lasiodora parahybana good for beginners?

Mostly yes. Their size and hair-flicking habit make research a must, though. Since they start small it is a good species to train people getting used to larger species over time!
