Grammostola maule is an incredibly rare species from Chile that never lasts long when they become available. Adults show a soft pink carapace (head) with a raised triangular section outlined in a charcoal dusting. The femurs and abdomen are red-orange, while the legs and extremities shift back into a pink coloration. It's a genuinely unique design, similar to Grammostola sp. 'South-Concepcion' but not quite as orange. Even the spiderlings look amazing, with different shades of pink across the body and carapace and black toes. How should Grammostola maule be kept?

• Adult Size: Reaches around 6 inches at full leg span, a great mid-sized display tarantula.
• Enclosure: Provide a terrestrial setup roughly 3 times the leg span as footprint and 2 times the leg span as height, with substrate at least 1 times the leg span deep for a shallow burrow and a hide. For a half-inch sling, that means starting small, around 1.5 by 1.5 by 1.5 inches, so the animal isn't lost in a large space. Size up as it grows.
• Temperature: Keep between 65 to 75 degrees F.
• Humidity: A moisture gradient works best, damp lower substrate with a drier surface, similar to a morning dew cycle. Good ventilation is critical. Cross ventilation works best, but ample top ventilation can also be effective as long as the enclosure is not over-misted.
• Water: A shallow textured water dish works well, something they can grip when climbing out.
• Diet: Crickets, roaches, and similar feeders sized to the carapace (head).
• Temperament: Docile and easygoing, one of the calmer terrestrial species to keep and observe.
