Description

Hornworms for Sale

We ship your hornworms in a habitat that fully sustains their needs.

They are perfect for the fussy eater and are known to be the 'magic trick' to end a reptile's hunger strike.  Not only are they an enticing blue-green color but they are very high in water making them a great way to rehydrate your animal.

Keeping Them Alive

Open the box the day it lands and move feeders into a ventilated container. Crickets and roaches need dry, airy housing. Worms keep best in the fridge between 40F and 50F, which slows them down and stops them pupating.

Gut Loading

A feeder is only as good as what it ate last. Give roaches and crickets fresh vegetables or a dry gut load 24 hours before you offer them, so the nutrition goes into your animal rather than the trash.

Sizing the Feeder

Feeders are measured in body length. As a rule, offer prey no longer than the body of the animal eating it. Slings and small geckos do better with several small feeders than one large one.

Uneaten Prey

Pull anything not eaten within 24 hours. Crickets will chew on a molting tarantula or a resting gecko, and a molting animal cannot defend itself. This is the single most common avoidable loss we see.

Feeder Insect FAQ

Shipping, the guarantee, and how feeders sit inside the rewards program.

Are feeder insects covered by a live arrival guarantee?

Yes. Feeder insects carry a 24 hour live arrival guarantee, which is a longer reporting window than the one on our animals.

If your feeders arrive and they are not doing well, message us and we will send another order out to you at no cost. You do not need to make a case for it. Just tell us what arrived and we will sort it.

Do feeder insects ship with my animals?

No, and that is on purpose. Feeders are handled by a dedicated feeder operation rather than being packed alongside your tarantulas.

Feeder insects need different packing, different ventilation and a different shipping cadence than a tarantula does, so they are handled by people who do nothing but feeders. They travel in their own box, which means they can arrive on a different day from your animals.

Both shipments are covered. Your animals fall under our live arrival guarantee and your feeders fall under the 24 hour feeder guarantee.

Do subscribers get a discount on feeders?

Yes. Subscribers get 5% off feeders and supplies. Subscribing to our email list is free and the discount applies itself at checkout for as long as you stay subscribed.

That one is a flat 5% for every subscriber and does not climb with your tier, unlike the invertebrate discount, which starts at 10% and goes up from there. Full details are on our VIP and rewards program page.

Items already marked down for a weekly deal or an event special are the one exception, and those always say so in the title.

Do feeder insects count toward freebies or free shipping?

No. Freebie credit is built from your pet invertebrate subtotal. Feeders, dry goods, supplies and enclosures do not build credit.

That is not a penalty, it is just how the credit is calculated. Feeders carry their own 5% instead, and they are priced to be cheap to restock rather than to earn rewards.

What does feeder shipping cost?

Feeder shipping starts as low as $7 and is calculated at checkout. Because feeders ship from a separate operation in their own box, feeder shipping is charged separately from your animal shipping.
