This very rare species of Xenesthis is perhaps one of the most colorful exhibiting a nearly fully covered pink carapace in the females and bright pink males (nearly solid pink).

This species also seems to ahve darker abdominal hairs creating a really nice and high contrast coloration on both males and females.

In Xenesthis it is that coverage of lighter pink on the carapace (hence the name) with the dark body is just so stunning, which makes it differ from its cousins in the genus. Species like Xenesthis sp. 'Bright' have a deeper bright pink and slightly less coverage.

Xenesthis are renouned for their large adult size (8"), heavy build and ability to take down large prey as they navigate the mountainous forests of South America.

This active group of tarantulas likes cooler temperatures (65-75F) and higher humidity. Providing a water dish, and making sure the soil does not dry out is recommended.

If you are looking for an absolutely stunning and impressive display animal, you cannot go wrong with the Xenesthis sp. 'Light'

Note From Will:

I am a huge Xenesthis fan because they are shiney cornerstones of what tarantulas should be (big, strong and bulky) but without that boring brown coloration. IMO this tarantula group really brings strength, size and bulky structure without sacrificing color - since both males and females are colorful.

My X. lights are very beautiful, but I do not have full grown adults yet. Believe me, when these are fill grown, they are absolute units and so gorgeous.

We will be keeping many of these for future breeding, so if you want a chance to get some of what the "Super Hard Core" collectors pick, this is a good one.
