The legendary P. solaris is back brought to you ONLY by Exotics Unlimited!

This stunning species features a structure that, as babies, resembles many Xenesthis species and looking similar to X. white slings which nearly white legs and a thick body.

As they grow into juveniles both males and females gain a gorgeous powder orange coloration with bright orange highlights that cover the carapace (First Photo). The males when mature are just breath taking with nearly solid neon orange and pink coloration.

An interesting thing about this species is that they have spines on their rear legs that they will use for warding off predators and have an amazing feeding response often eating all the way until the day before molting and then eating again shortly after.

Very few individuals will be lucky enough to own these in their lifetime, due to difficulty breeding and smaller sack size, this species has become one of the most sought after species in the world due to its amazing color and large size.

Note On This Species:

**This species was very expensive and I marked these up the least amount I could to make sense on an animal of this caliper. For reference an adult pair of this tarantula sold for 4k within the first week of being posted.

I only obtained 5 of these (all they had) and barely got them before a huge expo the vendor was attending. This species is beautiful and a fun one to raise for sure - I certainly enjoyed keeping mine over the past 4 or 5 years.

As always, I am working on better pricing, but I took these for now since it seemed like it would be many years until we saw more of these beauties become available.

ONLY 3 ARE IN THE USA MARKET CURRENTLY - so grab them while you can.

Care Note From Will:

These animals were very expensive and hard to obtain. I have raised this species several times, and each time is so fun and fulfilling. What I suggest is keeping them on multuple inches of substrate, making sure that substrate does not dry out ever and then providing them with a water dish they can drink from. I basically keep these the same as I do Xenesthis slings and they do well.

Keep in mind these are from basically temperate rain forests where it is cooler (up to 75F as the high) and more humid. The best way to accomplish this is a larger setup, with several inches of soil so they can dig to their desired moisture level if needed, and then a water dish as a backup in case they need a drink.

Larger cages also ensure that these slings will grow faster! This I thought to be a myth, but in my experience starting animals in larger enclosures (but not too large) allows them to grow very well especially Phormictopus, Xenesthis and Pamphobeteus (American Terrestrial Giants). Go with 3-4x leg span in horizontal dimensions and you will do well with them.

AS ALWAYS you have one of the most hardcore hobbyists in the game (ME) to guide you in case things go wrong. I have kept 30ish of these for myself over the years :)

We ship all live animals using ONLY FedEx Overnight shipping, since it is the fastest and safest way to ship your new pets.

We ship on Tuesdays (for Wednesday arrival) and Wednesdays (for Thursday arrival) and plan shipments on Mondays.

Please make sure to select a FedEx Overnight option at checkout - for "Facility Pickup" or "Home Delivery"!

If your package is over $400 or contains rare/expensive animals we may require you to pick up at your local facility.

**Please remember that "Overnight Shipping" only means that your animal will spend overnight in the box; it does not mean your package shipps immediately and will arrive the next day! **

How we measure invertebrates:

We measure tarantulas and spiders in diagonal legspan. This means the distance from the front right to back left leg (or vise versa) when the animal is stretched out.

Cenitpedes we measure the full length of the animal from the antennae to the back legs

Scorpions we typically measure the body-length of the animal.

Cage Requirements

Choose an enclosure at least twice the tarantula's leg span in width, depth, and height. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent condensation and provide a hide to help your pet feel secure.

Diet & Water

Feed your invertebrates crickets, roaches, or mealworms—we primarily use crickets and recommend feeding weekly. Provide a textured, shallow water dish as a drinking source, ensuring it's just water (no sugar, sponges, or additives).

Temperature & Humidity

Keep invertebrates at room temperature (65°F-75°F) and maintain humidity using soil. The soil should be damp but not saturated, resembling the texture and color of coffee grounds.

Soil & Plants

We use organic coconut fiber for our tarantulas because it resists mold and holds humidity well. For bioactive enclosures, choose nutrient-rich soil, ensuring it is free from insecticides and pests.
