This really neat purple species from Colombia is awesome!

Very similar to the infamous Avicularia purpurea (Purple Pink Toe) this species grows to a similar size, and ends up with an amazing purple coloration as well as orange markings on the abdomen!

As slings this species looks nearly identical to the more common 'Purple Pink Toe' but as it grows it gains these amazing orange stripes on the abdomen that will fade some when they mature, but some does remain on the abdomen.

This differs from purpurea, which are basically gey until they get their purple coloration at about 2" DLS.

In science the 'cf' essentially means "similar to" and is applied to species that are similar to those that we know, but we suspect are different.

That is why we applied that name here. Essentially this species is a "locality" of purpurea (for lack of better term). We recognize 3 similar species to purpurea: a northern Ecaudor, the southern Ecuador and then the colombia variant. All are primarily purple species with that deep purple and black base color, and then different features that define the different species. In this case, that would be the orange markings on the abdomen which is awesome!

How we ship live animals:

We ship all live animals using ONLY FedEx Overnight shipping, since it is the fastest and safest way to ship your new pets.

We ship on Tuesdays (for Wednesday arrival) and Wednesdays (for Thursday arrival) and plan shipments on Mondays.

Please make sure to select a FedEx Overnight option at checkout - for "Facility Pickup" or "Home Delivery"!

If your package is over $400 or contains rare/expensive animals we may require you to pick up at your local facility.

**Please remember that "Overnight Shipping" only means that your animal will spend overnight in the box; it does not mean your package shipps immediately and will arrive the next day! **

How we measure invertebrates:

We measure tarantulas and spiders in diagonal legspan. This means the distance from the front right to back left leg (or vise versa) when the animal is stretched out.

Cenitpedes we measure the full length of the animal from the antennae to the back legs

Scorpions we typically measure the body-length of the animal.

Cage Requirements

Choose an enclosure at least twice the tarantula's leg span in width, depth, and height. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent condensation and provide a hide to help your pet feel secure.

Diet & Water

Feed your invertebrates crickets, roaches, or mealworms—we primarily use crickets and recommend feeding weekly. Provide a textured, shallow water dish as a drinking source, ensuring it's just water (no sugar, sponges, or additives).

Temperature & Humidity

Keep invertebrates at room temperature (65°F-75°F) and maintain humidity using soil. The soil should be damp but not saturated, resembling the texture and color of coffee grounds.

Soil & Plants

We use organic coconut fiber for our tarantulas because it resists mold and holds humidity well. For bioactive enclosures, choose nutrient-rich soil, ensuring it is free from insecticides and pests.
