Giant Asian Mantis (Hierodula membranacea) – A prominent species native to Southeast Asia, celebrated for its impressive size and vibrant coloration. Adults typically exhibit shades ranging from bright green to yellowish hues.
Females can reach lengths of up to 3.5 inches (8–9 cm), while males are slightly smaller at around 3 inches (7–8 cm). Known for their robust build and predatory prowess, these mantises are relatively easy to care for, making them suitable for both novice and experienced enthusiasts.
Care:
We recommend 32oz deli cups with the ventilation lids - what most people use for fruit flies - to start them in.
Add 2" of coconut fiber, a cork bark, stick or something for them to climb on.
They will need to be misted and fed twice a week with fruit flies or 1/8-1/2" crickets.
We recommend as fine of a mist that you can provide so they can drink the water droplets off the side of the cage.
It is an option to feed them with tongs and fresh killed crickets if you just cannot find the perfect size cricket and do not want to deal with flies.
