The stunning Brazilian Jewel is pinnacle of color when it comes to tarantulas. This majestic dwarf is one of our most popular species, since our many years of studying and working with this species has led to the overwhelming success with our customers!

This species is an arboreal trap door, which blends the trap with the surface of trees, and ambushes any prey that walks across. Definitely the most advanced hunting tactic of any tarantula!

While this species is not the most hardy species, we find that as long as you have the correct set up, this species is not difficult to have success with. That is exactly why we do all the work for you and send you an enclosure that is set up and ready to use, so you do not have to stress about doing things correctly!

NEW Second Generation Pro-setups good for first 1.5-2 years of life-

includes:

Tall white flip top (top ventilated)

hand cut and hand drilled bark

shavings for the traps

we pack the enclosure so there is no setup needed

I have fine tuned this design so these slings make their traps often within 1 week but at the very least they will be happy and eat for you until they do make their traps

It has worked for HUNDREDS of specimens of these and means no rehousing until they are well started juvies until adults :)

Our expert team has been diligently studying this species in captivity for many years and have carefully developed our PRO setup that is makeshift, but very effective. We live and die by this cage design.

The only customers of ours that do not succeed with our Pro Setups are those that do not read our care sheets and do not ask questions. We give you ALL that you need for success with this amazing species!

These are not quite as established as our other slings, so if you are wanting slings that are a bit larger and more established in their cages, then look for our larger slings!

Cage Requirements

Choose an enclosure at least twice the tarantula's leg span in width, depth, and height. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent condensation and provide a hide to help your pet feel secure.

Diet & Water

Feed your invertebrates crickets, roaches, or mealworms—we primarily use crickets and recommend feeding weekly. Provide a textured, shallow water dish as a drinking source, ensuring it's just water (no sugar, sponges, or additives).

Temperature & Humidity

Keep invertebrates at room temperature (65°F-75°F) and maintain humidity using soil. The soil should be damp but not saturated, resembling the texture and color of coffee grounds.

Soil & Plants

We use organic coconut fiber for our tarantulas because it resists mold and holds humidity well. For bioactive enclosures, choose nutrient-rich soil, ensuring it is free from insecticides and pests.
